  Emerson Medeiros Del Ponte holds a degree and a master’s degree in Agronomy and a doctorate in Plant Pathology, both from the Federal University of Pelotas. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Plant Pathology of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), responsible for teaching and research in Epidemiology and Data Analysis in Plant Diseases.

  Since 2017, he is Chief Editor of Tropical Plant Pathology. He is co-founder of the global Open Plant Pathology initiative that aims to encourage open science and the adoption of good practices in reproducible plant pathology research.
